As a generalist association, SACSA is dedicated to advancing broad opportunities for professional development, scholarship, and ethical practice, but our true strength lies in our close-knit community. Our commitment to community is woven into our very fabric and is guided by our core values: Inclusiveness, Professionalism, and Collegiality. These values center our focus on fostering a welcoming and supportive environment for all.
Our history began in 1949 when a graduate student, Stanley Jones, started the association by sending out 50 postcards asking professionals to assemble for a professional development opportunity. From our grassroots origins, a deep sense of collegiality and connection began. As early as 1955, the association made the pioneering commitment to only hold conferences where all members could be housed together. This value of creating a place for everyone has been our guidepost for more than 75 years.
What truly sets SACSA apart is our tight-knit and collaborative atmosphere. As the only multi-state generalist student affairs conference, we serve as a space where professionals at all levels can easily connect, mentorships emerge organically, and both the scholarship and practice of student affairs are examined and advanced.
