SACSA encourages scholarly inquiry among its members by annually awarding small grants to help advance proposed assessment, evaluation, and research projects.
The purposes of the SACSA Research & Assessment Committee are to encourage scholarly inquiry in the college student affairs field, to provide current research and reports to the membership, and to coordinate the selection and awarding of the SACSA Assessment, Evaluation, and Research Grant and the Dissertation of the Year Award.
Both awards are presented at the annual conference.
Supported by the SACSA Foundation through the generous donations of its membership, SACSA encourages scholarly inquiry among its members by annually awarding small grants to help advance proposed assessment, evaluation, and research projects.
Research grant awardee(s) must submit a status report to SACSA one year after receiving the funding and agree to submit a conference proposal for the following year’s SACSA conference.
Grant proposals are due no later than Monday, October 5, 2026 at 11:59 PM EST and should be submitted electronically using the application form linked below.
Any questions related to the AER Grant can be directed to the SACSA Research and Assessment Committee via email at research.assessment@sacsa.org.
The Research & Assessment Committee is also responsible for approving requests to use SACSA information, such as membership lists, to advance research projects.
The Research & Assessment Committee will review the study and IRB materials and determine whether the request may be approved. Persons or groups who want to survey or use the SACSA membership list for research purposes should follow the protocol below.
Submit an email request to the Research & Assessment Committee Chair. This request should include detailed information about the research study and the IRB approval form.
The request is reviewed by the Research & Assessment Chair and committee.
If the request is approved by the committee, the chair will submit the proposal to the Vice President for submission to the Executive Council.
The Vice President will forward the request to the Executive Council with a motion to approve.
The applicant will receive an official letter or email with the final decision. This communication will include any associated costs if applicable, the reason for denial or conditions of approval, and contact information for those involved in supporting the research.
Please submit the request, information regarding the research study, and IRB approval document to the SACSA Research and Assessment Committee via email at research.assessment@sacsa.org.
SACSA invites members to submit assessment, evaluation, and research proposals that contribute to stronger practice, deeper inquiry, and continued learning across the profession.
