Dear SACSA Family,
Thank you for trusting me as your 2025-2026 President. I carry this responsibility with deep gratitude for those who have paved the way and with a strong commitment to the work that lies ahead.
SACSA has long served as a professional home for student affairs educators across the region. In a time of continued change and complexity within higher education, the importance of connection, shared purpose, and collective leadership has never been more critical.
The 2025–2026 year is guided by our conference theme, The Bridge Forward: Reshaping, Reigniting, Reclaiming the Field of Higher Education. This theme reflects our responsibility to honor the foundation of our profession while actively shaping its future. Building the bridge forward calls us to be thoughtful in our practice, responsive to the moment, and intentional in how we support one another and the work we do.
As a generalist association, SACSA is dedicated to advancing broad opportunities for professional development, scholarship, and ethical
practice; however, our defining strength has always been our sense of community. Founded through a simple invitation for colleagues to come together, SACSA has remained rooted in connection, collegiality, and shared purpose.
That foundation continues to distinguish SACSA as a close-knit and collaborative space where professionals across roles and career stages can connect with ease, engage meaningfully, and contribute to the ongoing advancement of student affairs practice and scholarship.
I am grateful to work alongside a dedicated Executive Council, committee chairs, and volunteers whose service sustains and strengthens this Association. Their leadership, paired with the continued engagement of our members, ensures that SACSA remains a trusted and forward-focused professional community.
I look forward to all that we will accomplish together as we continue to build the bridge forward.
With Gratitude,
Joy Hartfield, Ed.D.
