Joining us for this timely conversation are Dr. Don Stansberry, Vice Provost for Student Affairs at the University of Missouri-Kansas City; Dr. Angela Alvarado Coleman, Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs at North Carolina Central University; and Dr. Leonard E. Clemons, Vice President for Student Affairs at Austin Peay State University.

Together, these leaders bring decades of experience navigating institutional change, advancing student success, strengthening campus communities, and leading student affairs organizations through complex and evolving higher education environments.

Meet Our Featured Panelists

Dr. Don Stansberry

Dr. Don Stansberry brings more than 30 years of experience in higher education as a student-centered practitioner, scholar, and senior executive. Throughout his career, he has been committed to creating transformative student experiences that foster engagement, belonging, well-being, and academic success.

Prior to joining the University of Missouri-Kansas City as Vice Provost for Student Affairs, Dr. Stansberry served as Vice President for Student Affairs at Clayton State University in Georgia, where he led a comprehensive division supporting student success, family engagement, and alumni relations.

Dr. Stansberry earned a Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration and an Ed.S. in Educational Leadership from Old Dominion University. He also holds a master's degree in College Student Personnel Administration and a bachelor's degree in Organizational Communication from Ohio University.

As a first-generation college graduate, he is passionate about ensuring every student feels supported, connected, and empowered to succeed.

Dr. Angela Alvarado Coleman

Dr. Angela Alvarado Coleman serves as Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs at North Carolina Central University (NCCU), where she provides strategic leadership for a diverse portfolio of 17 departments and manages a budget of more than $20 million.

With more than 25 years of experience in higher education, Dr. Coleman has dedicated her career to expanding educational access and improving college success, particularly for students from low-income and first-generation backgrounds.

Prior to joining NCCU, she served as Associate Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students at Florida A&M University. She also has extensive experience developing and managing federal and private grants.

Dr. Coleman earned a Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Sport Sciences and a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from the University of Florida. She earned her Doctor of Education in Higher Education Administration and a Certificate in Institutional Research from Florida State University.

Her scholarly and professional interests include college access and success, educational finance, higher education policy, and student retention.

Dr. Leonard E. Clemons

Dr. Leonard E. Clemons is Vice President for Student Affairs at Austin Peay State University, where he serves as the institution's senior student affairs officer and provides strategic leadership for campus engagement, wellbeing, career readiness, and community belonging to increase student success.

He previously served as Associate Vice Provost for Student Success at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and has held a variety of academic and student service roles at public and private institutions.

With more than 15 years of progressive leadership experience in higher education, Leonard has led transformative organizational changes, including the design, restructuring, and advancement of divisions and offices to increase institutional effectiveness and student success.

Leonard is engaged in many professional associations and very active with NASPA, contributing to the profession through regional and national leadership and service.

He earned a Doctor of Education in Higher Education from the University of Miami, a Master of Science in Adult & Higher Education from Northern Illinois University, and a Bachelor of Arts from Kentucky State University.
