Greetings SACSA Family,
The Southern Association for College Student Affairs (SACSA) is holding the Old Dominion University community close following the tragedy that occurred on campus yesterday. We are thinking of the students, faculty, staff, and families whose lives have been impacted by this event.
Student affairs professionals know that campuses are more than institutions. They are communities of care, learning, and belonging. When something painful occurs within one campus community, the entire higher education community stands with them in support and shared resolve.
SACSA stands alongside our colleagues at Old Dominion University and across the region. We join our partners in NASPA Region III in offering support, compassion, and encouragement as you all navigate the days ahead.
Joy Hartfield, Ed.D.
SACSA President
For many years, Old Dominion University and the Norfolk community have welcomed SACSA colleagues and gatherings with generosity, warmth, and partnership. Across conferences, receptions, celebrations, and shared moments of professional fellowship, Old Dominion has been part of the fabric of our Association’s story.
As we reflect on these memories, we do so with gratitude and care. We remain thankful for the many ways the Monarch community has opened its doors to SACSA through the years, and we stand with Old Dominion University today and in the days ahead.
